The Central Sterile Supply Department is responsible for preparing medical/ surgical supplies and equipment so that they are sterile and ready for use in patient care. The Central Sterilization Supply Department is divided into five major areas: decontamination and processing, assembly, sterilizing, sterile storage, and distribution. Central sterile supply department (CSSD) breaks the chain of infection in hospital. It is considered today as an integral part of every hospital. The quality assurance given in CSSD can be considered as one of the significant hospital infection control indicators. Scope of CSSD has expanded from a department similar to an autoclave sterilization unit to encompass hospital infection control and stand for a dedicated workflow of sterile supplies and goods.[1

Audit of infection control practices
The objectives of the audits are (1) to audit the existing infection control practices in CSSD in a tertiary care hospital, (2) to implement the Infection control practices in the study area, and (3) to evaluate the impact of the progress after implementing changes in the study area.
CSSD Training
Empower your team with skills
This training teaches basics of sterilization, operations and handling of sterilizers, documentation, quality control and sterilization practices. The course shall also interlink and teach coordination of CSSD & Infection control.
